Read @ JPS is a collaborative effort with the National Library Board to promote reading in our students. Students will be able to develop reading and viewing skills and strategies, attitudes and behaviour and text-type specific comprehension skills and strategies, strengthened by exposure to wide reading and viewing.
Termly activities such as Books to Go (Mass Borrowing of NLB books), Reading Profile interest Surveys, and Book Reviews are carried out to bring about the joy of reading to students.
Students also have the opportunities to read different text types and examine the grammatical aspects of the English Language through magazine subscription. These magazines include the National Geographic, The Little Red Dot, Readers’ Digest and Pages of Knowledge. The EL teachers conduct in-depth discussion of the articles to hone students’ critical thinking and reasoning skills.
