4 in 1 Fiesta 2011

Our school will be having our annual 4-in-1 Fiesta and the theme this year is ENGAGING FAMILIES & BUILDING COMMUNITY.


This annual event comprises of 4 events, namely Prize Giving Day, where we honour the best performing students of the year; Family Day, a carnival of games and activities located all around the school; Grandparents' Day, a time for bonding for the pupils' Grandparents and their parents as well and Alumni Day, a chance for all ex-pupils of Jurong Primary and Boon Lay Primary to mingle and reconnect. It is a day for EVERYONE!


The Fiesta will start from 9am and end at 1.30pm in our school premises.  Pupils can purchase coupons for the games and activity booths during recess timings from 14 Nov - 17 Nov and on 19 Nov too.

Schoolbag.sg - JPS Feature

This month, our school has been featured in a publication by Schoolbag.sg, an online publication channel for all education-related matters.
The article highlighted our school's Innovation and Partnership efforts that include activities fostering bonding between parents and school and the various programmes that involve our stakeholders to integrate them into our learning environment.

MOE Olive Charity Run 2011

Held on 17 September 2011 at East Coast Park, the race is an annual event to raise funds for the President's Challenge 2011, as well as to promote staff bonding and healthy lifestyle amongst staff.
Cheers to our teachers for living it up!


Commonwealth Sec Green Game 2011

YMCA Plain English Speaking Award

Congratulations to Tan Ning, Vivienne, of class P4E for emerging among many other contestants to achieve the Bronze Honor Roll in the recent YMCA Plain English Speaking Award - Upper Primary Category, jointly organised by Ministry of Education, National Library Board and Speak Good English Movement Committee.
The contest looks into the overall articulation and presentation of the contestants, and out of hundreds of participants, only 16 contestants are selected to enter the semi-finals with only 8 shortlisted to compete in the finals. 
The contest is in its 25th year and has attracted participants from all over the island in promoting public speaking in Plain English as an important communication tool.
Under the guidance of her teachers, Mdm Faridah and Mrs Maalini, Vivienne has certainly come a long way to emerge as one of the winners. Well Done Vivienne! Well Done Teachers!

National Stamp Collecting Competition 2011

Congratulations to the Culture Club members for their good work done at the recent competition, organised by the Singapore Philatelic Museum. The public can view their exhibits on 2 & 3 Sept at The Plaza, National Library, 100 Victory Street

SYF Arts and Crafts Results

We are proud to announce that the JPS team from the Talented Artist Programme and Chinese Brush Painting has clinched 2 awards for the school.

Visit from DBSPD, Hong Kong

JPS welcomes the Symphony Orchestra from Diocesan Boys' School Primary Division (DBSPD), Hong Kong (SAR) on 12th - 13th April.
They will be involved in an exchange programme with our pupils on Tuesday. They will also be performing a 45- mins concert on Wednesday, 12.30pm, in our school hall. Our Brass Band and String Ensemble pupils will play Dvorak's New World Symphony, 4th movement together with the boys from DBSPD, in a combine orchestra.
It is a great opportunity for our pupils to work with musicians from another country. We hope that the boys from DBSPD will have a fruitful time and wonderful stay in Singapore.

Parents Learning Seminar - Partnering your child towards Excellence!

This year’s Parents’ Learning Seminar will be held on 9 April 2011 (Saturday) from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm. This annual event provides a platform for parents and teachers to learn together. It will also be an opportunity for parents to be empowered to help their children grow and develop effectively in their learning journey.
Parents can look forward to gaining insights from our teachers and find out more about the latest developments in our education system. There will also be fringe activities and a display of educational resources by various companies and suppliers. 
The registration form for the various workshops has been distributed to your child in term 1 week 10. If you have missed the circular and are keen to sign up, please kindly get the registration form from the General Office.
We strongly believe that parents are our partners in Education and we recognise the important role that you play in helping your child excel.

JPS Alumni is 2010 top 'A' Level Student.

Congratulations to our Alumni!
We are proud that Mr. Tan Zhi Xiang, former student of Jurong Primary School, is the top student in River Valley High School’s first batch of Integrated Programme (RVIP) graduates.
He is also a national top student in the 2010 Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level Examination.
Mr Tan scored full distinctions in nine subjects at 13 Academic Units, including distinctions in two H3 subjects and an A1 in Higher Chinese.  In addition, for his outstanding performance in Physics, he also received the Gold Medal presented by the Institute of Physics, Singapore (IPS), a medal given to the top scorers in Physics in the entire A-level cohort.
Mr Tan is the only student in Singapore to have achieved this stellar performance.

SDMA 2011

The Schools Digital Media Awards (SDMA) competition is held annually and is open to all students and teachers to submit entries in the Animation, Video and Audio categories.
Out of more than 300 entries sent in for the competition, the following teachers and students have done JPS proud.

Stay Free from Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

The March school holidays will soon be here. If you are planning to travel abroad, do take necessary precautions  to protect your family from infectious diseases. For more information, visit www.hpb.gov.sg.
We would also like to request for your support in keeping your child at home to rest, if he/she is unwell when school re-opens. Do not send him/her back to the pre- school/school until fully recovered and after the expiry of the Medical Certificate (MC) given by your family doctor.
